I was really excited to go to Bangalore… Main reason being i was going away from everything and i needed that break badly! Another reason i was going to Bangalore after 13 years 4 months!
The airport Gate 10 now sports swanky utvi lounge where one can sit and work on the laptop comfortably… The flight to Bangalore was un eventful as always… The Bangalore airport is nice! Loved the ample space they have once you step out… One thing which i liked was the choice of transport available for one to reach the city or any part for that matter… There are Volvo bus services which leave every few min…
The weather was fantastic… The ride to the city was nice… the first few min reminded me of the drive from abu dabhi airport to dubai…
Had decided to meetup with a few people while i was there one of them being Sathya. He is a moderator on some of the tech websites and i have been interacting with him for a while now… Had a nice chat with him at CCD at Bangalore Central…
I was warned about the famous traffic and i did get caught once but it was alright i guess…
I met up with Soham and Sani after like 3 years! it was good catching up with them and I bumped into Paul who has recently moved to Bangalore… I asked them why bangalore and they were like weather is kickass which is why we are still working here!
Smita and Vishi took me out for dinner at coconut groove on Brigade road… Nice food but place was dull!
I also happened to see the Leela hotel which was WOW! and Taj Westend which was Fantastic too… Thanks to Nidhi who showed me around and also the Presidential Suite there which boasts of a Jacuzzi and its own pool…
I also got to meet Jagdish Babu from Intel and was amazed to see how he plans everything… Renewed Respect for Intel after meeting him and some more folks from Intel! Btw Intel has tie up with tons of companies in India where they are the official Hardware partners… Something one should always explore…
People in bangalore are home by 630-7pm max and in bed by 10pm! The way we work here in bombay is extremely different… The guys here are more active i felt… and also faster… Was wondering if we did open a dev center in bangalore it would just not work since we are required to be on our toes all the time… yeah downside we dont really have a fantastic “life” out here in bombay but atleast i love it like this… Another bummer was the local transport system out in Bangalore sucked! I guess nothing can beat the transport system of bombay…
In all it was a fantastic trip… I almost missed my flight back home… If you are at bangalore you need to go to the webex setup where i think you have free wifi connection as well as two massage chairs which were so nice that i kinda fell asleep and had the ground staff hunting for me 😉
Cheers!
